We’re excited for the next batch of beans in our series of coffee collaborations by teaming up with the Junior's Roasted Coffee from Portland, OR. We selected this coffee to highlight the true cost of production and issues surrounding the evolving global coffee pricing crisis.
Coffee is traded as a commodity, trading for as low as $0.94/lb during the 2019-2020 season. These low prices rarely cover the actual cost of producing a pound of coffee, putting many farms in a perilous spot. Case Study aims to highlight the cost of production for one of the thousands of farms that contribute to the Murago washing station. By doing so, we hope to highlight the need to reform how we value coffee, and the need to use our power as buyers and consumers to sustainably, profitable support farms across the industry.
